Rasselbock Academy is where Warlocks are made. Well, they’re actually made in rituals that imbue ordinary people with the power of monsters. Well, almost ordinary people. The Dragon family has always been haughty and imperious. By contrast, the Zombies are always willing to lend a hand, even if they’ll need it back later. The least ordinary, or most extraordinary, of the Warlock organizations is the Leprechauns. It’s been almost sixty years since a Leprechaun set foot on Rasselbock’s campus, not since the sole Leprechaun disappeared from Warlock society. That’s all about to change, because he’s dying and his successor doesn’t know any better.
March, seventeen and aimless, wasn’t aware of the magical world hidden in his seedy New Jersey town. Now that he’s been dubbed the new Leprechaun, he must prove himself to the Warlock elite to keep his new luck-based powers. As if that weren’t complicated enough, the jilted Dragon scion has stolen the mantle of the immortal Phoenix for himself. When his ambitions include Rasselbock Academy’s dissolution, March must decide if his new community is worth defending, and if his old one is worth leaving behind.

Funny and fast paced
Tough Luck kept me hooked from the first page. I enjoyed the humor in this quick paced story. It is packed with action and the authors did an amazing job at creating a sense of tension and mystery. I need to know what happens next! I hope there will be another book about March!

A refreshing and charming new take on classic folklore
A truly unique take on myths and fairytales! If you've enjoyed any kind of 'boarding school fantasy' before, you'll immediately fall in love with the characters and world, full of fresh takes on classic monsters and myths. The delightful prose is cinematic, the story is quickly paced and enthralling - I couldn't put it down!

Like Discworld and Harry Potter were combined, but good
This book is great for anyone who's a fan of the Discworld series, or who has gotten tired of the types of fantasy books that Harry Potter and its legacy have flooded the market with. It's funny, it's clever, and it knows exactly what it is. Loved it front to back
